Corniglia is the smallest and the highest of the Cinque Terre five villages. It is the only town that does not have a seaport. It is very difficult to reach by car, so the only options available are either by train or by foot.

1. Church of St. Peter
A big beautiful church in gothic Ligurian style. It was built in 1334. While the chapel was built before 1000, unfortunately, the exact date is unknown.

2. Chapel of Saint Catherine flagellants and the monument
The chapel is located in the central square of Corniglia; it was built in the XVIII century. On this square, there is a Monument to those who fell in Corniglia in 1926.
Behind the chapel there is a very spacious terrace with a good view over the entire Riviera.


3. Ruins of Genoese Fortress
In the past, a castle with huge tower stood here. Unfortunately, not much is left except some ruins near the cemetery.

Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces, Corniglia-Vernazza, Cinque Terre

5. Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces
Our Lady of the Graces Temple, though belonging to Corniglia, is in fact located in San Bernardino. It is a small hamlet near Vernazza. It is easier to reach the Sanctuary from Vernazza; so you will find a detailed description on how to reach there on the page of Vernazza town.
This temple built in the 1800s is located on a mountain ridge not far from a small cluster of houses. It was built on the place of a former chapel of 1470. On the altar, there is a painting of Virgin Mary with Jesus of 1874. A magnificent view opens up from the church square to the village of Corniglia and the beach of Guvano.

    Journey time: 40-60 minutes.
    Difficulty: low.
    Path length: 2 km / 1.25 miles.
    Description: second section of the Blue Path. It connects the railway station of Corniglia with Manarola. For reaching the station from Corniglia you need to descend 382 steps staircase; it is much easier and more pleasant to descend than ascend it.
    The route consists of paths: #2b.
    The trail is temporarily inaccessible (approximately till: 2025).

    The Blue Path, 2c

    Journey time: 70-100 minutes.
    Difficulty: low.
    Path length: 3.2 km / 2 miles.
    Description: the path is laid through forest. From here you get a very beautiful panoramic view overlooking the Cinque Terre Riviera, Corniglia and a small hamlet San Bernardino seen on the top of a rock. You can reach famous beach of Guvano from here.
    The route consists of paths: #2c.

    The Way to Path #1 or Volastra and Manarola

    Difficulty: low.
    Description: path #7a connects Corniglia with the High Path #1. Besides, approximately 500 meters from the beginning the path gets bifurcated; right turn is path #6d that goes to Volastra, a small hamlet near Manarola, and from Volastra one can easily descend to Manarola.
    The route consists of paths: #7a or #7a + #6d.
