The Way of Love Reopened for Tourists on August 9, 2024!
After over a decade of closure due to a landslide, the iconic Via dell'Amore, or Path of Love, in Cinque Terre has finally reopened to the public. This picturesque trail, known for its breathtaking views of the Ligurian Sea and romantic ambiance, is now ready to welcome visitors from around the world.
The Via dell'Amore connects the charming villages of Riomaggiore and Manarola, offering an easy and scenic walk along the cliffs. The trail was reopened on August 9, 2024, as part of a broader initiative to promote sustainable tourism in the region.
To ensure the preservation of this beautiful path, visitors must book a timed 15-minute group tour online. Each slot is limited to 100 visitors, providing an exclusive experience while helping to manage foot traffic. The trail is open daily from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm, giving ample opportunity to enjoy its splendor.
The restoration of Via dell'Amore included significant safety improvements and environmental integration efforts. Rockfall barriers, an extended artificial tunnel for support, and a new breakwater to prevent erosion are among the upgrades. Over 8,800 plants have been reintroduced to blend the path seamlessly with the natural landscape.
To visit the trail, you must purchase a Cinque Terre Card and pay an additional €10.
